The name of this painting is ‘The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp’. This painting is painted in1632 by and artist named Rembrandt also known as ‘the magician of light’. This painting is on oil on canvas and it is located in Mauritshuis, the Hague.

Rembrandt painting it mirrors the curiousity of Renaissance. People wanted to know how does it work. In this painting it shows people dissecting human body to know about human body. In the Renaissance people asked more questions about the human body. This art work is showing what happened during Renaissance because in art, one man is dissecting human body and the others are looking and taking note. In Renaissance, people started to ask questions about diseases and how to cure. They wanted to know more about medicine and human body. This is an example of art shows the study of human body. Before Renaissance church had lots of power and they were not allowed to dissect human body, but in Renaissance church power was weekend and they could dissect. This made people to ask themselves and inquire about church. Also people start to look for ancient Rome and Greek knowledge about the medicine because church was corrupt. ‘The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp’ shows the power losing from church, innovative thinking and people being inquire about human body.
